This Monday, December 18th at the Maison de lโEnvironnement, the launch of the “I Eat Therefore I Am” exhibition took place, available until March 27, 2024.
The Maison de lโEnvironnement is an eco-citizen structure that informs and educates on various themes such as waste, biodiversity, eco-consumption, or food.
An exhibition that helps us understand the importance of food and its environmental impacts. The way we eat is not without consequences: health, air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, and food waste. 62% of French people have changed their eating habits to reduce their environmental footprint.
The exhibition confronts us with the harsh reality of food products. Eighty-five million tons of greenhouse gas emissions come from agricultural and fishing productions. To limit our impact, the exhibition invites us to prioritize organic, cereal products, and especially seasonal products. A consumption choice that reduces our impact but also contributes to supporting the local economy.
How to educate children to eat better?
โAt the School of Sustainable Development,โ it is one of the objectives focused on the theme of sustainable food. A program exclusively for the schools in the city of Nice and the Nice Cรดte dโAzur Metropolis.
The exhibition is accessible to children. Fun and educational activities (presentation of kitchen utensils) are available to them with a questionnaire. There is also a presentation of the food pyramid, to help understand the importance of a balanced diet. Local recipe books are shared as well as cooking classes on the preparation of socca.
