In this difficult context and with the mindset of those who see good in every ill by highlighting the talent of local researchers, the “Victories of Research” will award 6 prizes to the best 6 theses and 1 prize for a research action carried out on a topical theme. More details are provided in the Municipal Council’s deliberation, which established it during yesterday’s session. One prize will be awarded in each of the University Cรดte d’Azur’s doctoral schools, recognizing the 6 best theses defended the previous year. These must differ from those already awarded by the University Cรดte d’Azur Foundation, to showcase as many young researchers as possible. The selection will be based on the criterion of excellence.
The Young Researcher Awards will come with a grant of at least โฌ300 per person. The prize for research action carried out on a topical theme deemed particularly relevant to the territory will receive an amount of at least โฌ1,000.
Since during the year 2020, metropolitan residents faced traumatic events: the health crisis due to the Covid-19 pandemic, storm Alex, and the Notre-Dame Basilica attack, the City of Nice found it interesting to honor research actions that, in one way or another, help overcome these events. Thus, resilience was chosen as the theme for the 2021 call for applications.
The selection committee for these Victories of Research will be chaired by Dean Xavier Latour, Metropolitan Vice-President in charge of Higher Education, Research, and Continuing Education, Municipal Councillor, accompanied by scientific personalities, elected officials, and an external qualified individual.
