The MAMAC opens its doors to the 1st edition of MOVIMENTA and hosts workshops for families and schools, as well as conferences and screenings.
Until January 14, 2018, the Contemporary Gallery of the MAMAC invites you to discover the installation “Parallel I-IV” by Harun Farocki.
Considered one of his major works, “Parallel I-IV” is one of the last research projects conducted by the filmmaker. The installation unfolds a four-act analysis of the rapid history of video games. Neither a celebration nor a critical exploration, this project by Harun Farocki also aims to test the inherent limits of this artificial realm and question this regime of images and representation of reality.
The filmmaker highlights the full range of reactions and the lack of memory in the characters, which reduces them to the condition of automatons. Renowned for his investigative work on the relationship between society, image, and politics since the 1960s, Harun Farocki offers here a striking analysis of digital worlds, exploring games such as Mario Bros, Zelda, or Grand Theft Auto.
