An unmissable event for lovers of music, songs, and traditional dances, the International Folklore Festival “La Farandole,” organized by the City of Nice with the participation of the Collective for Traditional Arts – Lou Cat, takes its spectators on a journey every summer.
We offer you an exhibition of original and exceptional photos taken from the 2017 and 2018 editions of the Nice International Folklore Festival. The exhibition is open until August 19th.
These two previous editions highlighted the folk traditions of several continents with participants from Argentina, Chile, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Rwanda, Belarus, Bolivia, Guinea-Bissau, Iran, and Nicaragua.
The Nice International Folklore Festival
Created in 1935, it is the oldest folklore festival in Europe and one of the founding members of CIOFF (International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals), which has become a globally recognized organization and a member of UNESCO. It disappeared in 1995 after its 60th edition, but the festival was revived twenty years later, in 2015, thanks to the City of Nice’s efforts and the support of the members of the Collective for Traditional Arts – Lou Cat, led by Stan and Sylviane Palomba.
Mark your calendars, as the 2019 edition of the festival will take place on August 14th!
