This Friday at 5:30 PM, on the initiative of France Nature Environnement Alpes Maritimes, with the support of its member association ANQAEV (Nice Association for Air, Environment, and Life Quality), the vessel “L’Ainez” from Expedition MED will be welcomed in Nice as part of the “Pelagos Plastic Free” program.
The “Pelagos Plastic Free” program is led by “Expedition MED” in partnership with the Italian association Legambiente and aims to reduce plastic waste in the Pelagos Sanctuary through advocacy actions, scientific monitoring, and awareness-raising.
“Expedition MED” brings together scientists who explore the seas and oceans aboard “L’Ainez.” They collect, identify, and analyze specimens to assist scientific research in finding solutions against pollution, particularly plastic pollution, and to raise awareness among the general public and policymakers.
A conference-debate on July 27th by Bruno Dumontet will address:
The global issue of pollution by plastic waste in seas and oceans
The Mediterranean, its “plastisphere” (this new marine ecosystem developed from plastic waste, microbes, and bacteria), and the “Pelagos Plastic Free” program.
