Imagine a village of 1,500 souls that has bet on exchange and openness by equipping itself with a place for all “cultures.” Imagine a program that gains momentum every year and attracts nationally renowned artists willing to play the game of closeness with the public. You’re not dreaming…
This place exists, and this tour de force was accomplished by the village of Le Broc, in the hinterland of Nice. A true exception in the Azur landscape, the Arts d’Azur (AA) venue also hosts a thriving music school.
This 5th season promises to be even stronger, even more beautiful. So… Live culture!
Join us on October 1st for a significant event full of charm, Piaf! The Show.
With this 100% Azur creation on La Mรดme, Le Broc will host the biggest French international success of 2015 โ 2016 with over 300 sold-out concerts in 23 countries and more than 500,000 spectators.
โHeโ is back in the region. For those who missed him this summer at Les Nuits Carrรฉes, a makeup session awaits you. He is Oxmo Puccino, rapper, urban poet, prophetic word tamer. With his โVoix Lactรฉeโ (eponymous title of his latest album), he will offer on November 4th “Entre potes” and “Slow life,” one of the most anticipated concerts since the creation of the AA.
After the success of Guillaume Meurice in 2015 as part of “Les 3 communes font leur show!” (in collaboration with La Gaude and Tourrettes-sur-Loup), Arts dโAzur welcomes Nicole Ferroni. The troublemaker of France Inter has literally exploded this year in terms of notoriety with well-targeted web videos and her morning chronicles. With “Lโลuf, la poule ou Nicole?” her “one-woman-show” becomes the spokesperson for slightly eccentric characters who, in turn, come to talk about themselves, others, giant squids, economic crisis, and love… A must-see on November 27th.
Paris in the midst of the holidays in the office of SOS distress Friendship. Stop, we pause here! You all recognized the pitch of this Splendid play that tastes just fine and insatiable. Pierre, Thรฉrรจse, and Katia await you for “Le Pรจre Noรซl est une ordure” on December 11th with the Compagnie Acte 3.
Another sacred monster, Bruno Caliciuri aka Cali, relies on a “one-man show” for the tour of his latest album “L’Age d’or”. Far from his “tornado style,” this format promises a unique and intimate rendezvous with the artist. With a heart fully charged, Cali knows better than anyone how to hit the bullseye of our emotions. When is “When Happiness” in Le Broc? Itโs on January 27th, 2017!
The child king no! The kingdom of children yes! Dreaming, shaping, exchanging are the credo of this small-sized program. On Sunday, December 18th, we will travel with Oscar and Aunt Lรฉopoldineโs attic. A small urban boy at the countryside at auntie’s. A contemporary fable on imagination. Childrenโs superstar, Aldebert, will make a stop on Sunday, February 5th. Accompanied by his 4 musicians, dragons, fakirs, doctors, rappers, and other overwhelmed parents. He will ponder the issues that make todayโs children’s reality: the future, openness to the world, family, tolerance, love, and above all, the thrill of transgression!
No need to introduce Sanseverino, the wayfarer of the French scene, constantly at the head of various surprisingly eclectic projects. Since “Le Tango des gens” in 2001, he has charmed with a Gypsy universe adapted to French song. Rendezvous with Stรฉphane in “Power Trio” on February 11th, 2017.
Jean-Franรงois Zygel will improviseโฆ on Bach on March 4th. Well known for his lessons given around classical music, at the Thรฉรขtre du Chรขtelet, the pianist and composer has also ventured into improvised music with unmatched brilliance. He also hosts the show โLa Boรฎte ร musiqueโ on France 2, which focuses on a piece, a musical genre, or an artist, for over an hour.
In an equally wacky style, do you know Youpi the clown? And yet you are unlikely to forget him because Youpi is Didier Super. He will scream at us with his so refined voice “Your life will be uglier than mine!” The story of a desperate man who meets a fairy! An explosive fifth show, a gory parody of a children’s show, a truly organized chaos corrosive to your liking… Hostilities begin on March 11th, 2017.
For you, the public, AA will offer a great improv evening… on April 1st. No kidding? Audrey La Rosa and her team of improvisers will lead the showtime of an exclusive performance, mixing humor, creativity, and theatrical expression. As if the exercise wasnโt risky enough, the audience, in full interactivity with the actors, will propose the themes.
Also hilarious, “Couple en danger.” A romantic comedy that finds its balance between the right tone and the humor of the situations, it plunges the spectator with delight into the turmoil of life as a couple. A comedy by รric Assous through the company La Troupe du Rhum to enjoy on May 13th, 2017.
Finally, the adaptation of the great musical tale “Les indiens sont ร lโOuest,” signed Juliette, will conclude the 2016-17 season at Arts d’Azur on June 24th.
Arts d’Azur also lends a hand to budding artists. The Young Talents concerts are a springboard for young artists who have completed their musical studies in the region and are aiming to become professional musicians. This year will be an opportunity to discover Lรฉa, Robin, Antinรฉa, Thimothรฉe, Mallaury, and Hรฉloรฏse. On the program: singing, dancing, percussion, harp, and accordion. The 7 young talents spotlighted this season will perform through free-entry concerts on December 9th, February 3rd, and finally on March 24th. In the first part of these performances, the “budding artists” from the music school will be highly motivated to take their first steps on stage.
