Explorimages: A Festival for Adventurers

Latest News

From November 10 to 13, the 10th Festival of Nature and Adventure Images takes place at Phoenix Park in Nice. Organized by the AGEFIISA association, Phoenix Park, and the City of Nice, this festival offers a diverse and varied program centered around the screening of 26 adventure films. Other activities will be offered within the Phoenix Park, and a tribute will be paid to Jules Verne on the centenary of his death.

For the third time, Explorimages takes place in Nice. “Phoenix Park is ideal for organizing this festival. A greenhouse reminiscent of the tropics. Green spaces. A body of water. And in a city of 500,000 inhabitants known worldwide with an airport next door,” explains Patrick Besueille, president of the festival.

For three days of events, it’s a year of organization, idea research, and contact for the three volunteers of the association. “Some do not realize when coming to the festival all the work done beforehand. We have to prospect worldwide to find the films. We select 100 to ultimately retain 26.”

“It requires contacting directors and producers,” confirms Patrick. This former CEO of a computer SME is passionate about “his” Festival. Practicing caving and diving, he is himself a bit of an adventurer. “The French Riviera is a privileged place. I’ve traveled a lot in my life: in South Africa, the United States, and all over France. I settled here in Nice because I have maternal ties, but mainly because I have the sea and the mountains within driving distance.” According to Patrick Besueille, far from the “glitzy” Parisian clichés about the Riviera, Nice can be considered the city that best embodies Exploration and Adventure in France.

This festival will offer audiences superb imagery. The goal is to show unusual moments to discover, to dream as well. Travel while sitting in a chair. “Coast to Coast” is Patrick Besueille’s favorite film: South African Mike Blyth and Swiss Olivier Aubert made a 10,000 Km journey in a microlight over Southern Africa. Aesthetic by the beauty of the landscapes and images, this trip is also moving. The two adventurers bring a lot of humanity by inviting the locals to share their microlights. A film to discover like the 25 others.

Explorimages is growing. This year, a significant effort in communication has been made. Patrick Besueille wishes to develop this festival to make it an international reference. He is reflecting with Sébastien Pandolfi and Christine Subissareta, the other two members of Explorimages, on the 2006 edition.
