Handiplages of Nice:
Throughout the summer, the city of Nice provides free access to two handiplages, allowing people with disabilities to enjoy the pleasures of the sea and swim safely.
Since mid-June, all people with disabilities, regardless of age, can access swimming safely, 7 days a week, including public holidays.
Buoyed by the success of 2011 and to offer this service to as many people as possible, both locals and tourists, the city of Nice has experimentally extended the opening of its two handiplages located on the beaches of Carras and Centenaire.
Thus, starting tomorrow, swimmers will have an extra hour on both sites to enjoy the joys of the sea, until August 19, 2012.
Opening hours: 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM (last water entry at 6:15 PM) every day of the week.
For reference, the two handiplages in Nice offer:
– Adapted signage;
– A nearby rescue post with access for people with disabilities;
– An adapted reception, with reserved parking spaces near beach facilities, showers, restrooms, and umbrellas;
– A pathway or access ramp on the beach allowing access to the sea;
– Three tiralos (chairs that enable people with disabilities to swim), a hippocampe wheelchair;
Nine handiplagists, seasonal staff employed by the city to welcome and assist people.
