As part of the cold wave affecting the country, Mรฉtรฉo France services are announcing winter temperatures, down to -2 degrees Celsius, in perceived temperatures, along the coastal strip in the Alpes-Maritimes.
The prefecture of Alpes-Maritimes, in collaboration with health and social sector associations, is intensifying its efforts by strengthening its seasonal monitoring under the cold wave plan for welcoming the homeless.
The following measures have been implemented since this Monday:
โ 40 additional places for the homeless have been opened starting this Monday, January 16. 67 had already been made available on Thursday, January 12 (50 in reception centers and 17 in hotels). These places are in addition to the 265 planned annually, as well as the 126 additional places opened for the winter,
โ An intensification of patrols in connection with various associative networks and security forces will allow for increased presence and monitoring on the ground.
All the municipalities in the department have also been mobilized to report cases of distress.
Since Friday, January 13, more than 380 requests have been processed by line 115.
The city of Nice, for its part, has set up additional accommodation and integration services for the most disadvantaged with the opening of a new reception center (in addition to the Abbรฉ Pierre night emergency accommodation center located on Rue Trachel).
This additional, flexible reception will allow anyone who wishes to take shelter for the night with a hot snack, shower, listening, and comfort.
