FACE 06 is the student federation that brings together, from Nice to the Sophia-Antipolis hub via Cannes and Menton, most of the student associations from the various branches of the University of Nice Sophia-Antipolis and the Grandes Ecoles of the Alpes-Maritimes department.
FACE 06’s role is to represent the student community, promote associative actions, and organize student projects and events on a city federation scale. Its goals are to enable students in Nice and its department to thrive as best as possible in their student lives.
Nice Premium wanted to learn more about the history and functioning of this key player in student life and thus gave the floor to its president Pierre Barone, 26 years old, a PhD student in economics and management and already involved in professional life as an entrepreneur of an innovative start-up in the commercial services sector.
NP: What is the role of FACE06?
PB: The associations federated by FACE 06 and its board are here to organize student life and make it as enjoyable as possible for students who have chosen Nice and its surroundings to study.
NP: And on a daily basis?
PB: With ten years of experience, the federation knows how to address all aspects of student life (orientation, higher education, health, social security, housing, student allowances, entertainment, sports, international mobility, solidarity, and professional integration) and has, thanks to a majority in all student life councils (University and CROUS), the necessary means to champion the student voice and defend our interests.
NP: How are you organized? What is your governance?
PB: The process we have used for ten years is that of ascending democracy. It allows for democratic functioning and a constant openness for students. If someone wants to get involved in associative activities, with FACE 06, it’s possible by getting closer to the association of their field or campus! All goodwill is welcome!
