As every year since 2001, the Federation of Associations and Corporations of Students of the Alpes-Maritimes begins its new academic year in order to best support the most vulnerable students.
Social grocery stores, solidarity restaurant, housing assistance… All these initiatives serve as valuable supports, especially during a period of inflation. With the cost of the 2023 return to school rising for Azuréen students, having enough to eat even becomes a luxury for some. And that’s precisely where FACE06 comes into play. Firstly, the social and solidarity grocery stores of the Federation aim to help the most disadvantaged students by offering them food and hygiene support, in addition to being a community space. Launched in 2011, AGORAé are multi-functional spaces that offer an innovative solution to the complex and multidimensional issue of student poverty. This aid is far from negligible when you learn that the AGORAé of Nice-Centre is the very first in France to have opened .
Why stop at such a good start? FACE06 once again shows its pioneering spirit by opening the first Solidarity Restaurant in France in 2021. In addition to providing meals, it is a real vector of exchange and social connection among students. Twice a week, the Federation offers a complete and entirely free meal for 100 students. Moreover, the place hosts local artists during festive events throughout the year, becoming a fully-fledged living space.
By the students, for the students
Access to housing is another problem that Azuréen students face. The city of Nice is today the area in France with the highest rents after Paris… FACE06 therefore offers the “Projet Apparté”, which currently offers six apartments ranging from 29 to 45 m2 for rent, at a price significantly lower than the current market rate. These social and solidarity housing options are available upon submission of a detailed application and can be visited during an open house day or by appointment.
With 11 seats out of 15, FACE06 is the most representative association of the students of the University Côte d’Azur. It is also a member of the FAGE (Federation of General Student Associations), the leading French student representation organization, and benefits from their expertise. The Federation also defends the interests of vulnerable and struggling students with the Crous Nice-Toulon, and even provides free support to help students solve certain problems related to their student life.
