The 14th edition of the Nuits du Sud festival from July 7 to August 6, 2011. Featuring Jaqee, Gotan Project, Yaël Naïm, Patrice, Jhero, Max Romeo, Calypso Rose, Zazie, Juana Fé, Afrocubism, Mayra Andrade, Femi Kuti & The Positive Force, Aziz Sahmaoui & University of Gnawa, Israel Vibration, Luisa Maita, Staff Benda Bilili, Renegades Steel Orchestra, Emir Kusturica & The No Smoking Orchestra, Blue King Brown, Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Louis Chedid, Celso Pina, Zao, Juan de Marcos Afro-Cuban All Stars, Tribeqa, and Magic System!
For the 4th edition of the “Concours Talents Nuits du Sud – Espace Culturel Leclerc,” the performance dates for the 8 talents previously selected by a professional jury have been determined:
Friday, July 8: LES P’TITS GARS LAIDS. Through festive and warm music, they tell funny and moving stories of everyday life.
Saturday, July 9: ELECTROPHAZZ. A mix of jazz with a touch of electro, this project is primarily an original creation, a powerful groove driven by the chemistry and energy of five musicians.
Friday, July 15: GAÏO. Composer and performer, he stands out with his world inspiration that can evolve into electro, reggae, soul, and folk influences while maintaining an intimate setting.
Saturday, July 16: BABEL BUECH MADAM’. With an eye for the unconventional, they offer us a collection of songs from all languages, including authentic gibberish.
Thursday, July 21: POUM TCHACK. These virtuosos of gypsy swing give pride of place to an inspired and atypical jazz rock.
Friday, July 22: NU K. Served by three sound prodigies blending the sensitivity of the piano with the most magical of trumpets, they share their madness with disarming ease.
Saturday, July 23: THE KITCHIES. Under an “Indie/Rock” style, they deliver music inspired by English culture.
Thursday, July 28: MANOUCHKA ORKESTÄR. Influenced by Eastern Europe, their music sometimes travels from reggae ska to samba, through jazz, and much more.
These 8 Talents groups will perform as opening acts for the concerts scheduled on the above dates, at 8:30 PM.
They will also be announced during the “Young Talents” evening of the show TARATATOUILLE, presented by RDV Télé on Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at the Casino Rhul.
