A fire broke out this Tuesday afternoon on the 5th floor of a building in the Ariane district of Nice. Twenty people are involved. Two victims have been transported in critical condition.
A fire started around 4:30 p.m. in an apartment located on the top floor of a residential building on Comte Vert Street, in the Ariane district. The firefighters of Alpes-Maritimes have deployed significant resources. Several SAMU vehicles are on-site, along with a psychological support unit. Rescuers are asking people to avoid the area to facilitate the intervention.
The fire affected a unit on the 5th floor. The first teams conducted evacuations and secured the area. The SAMU is mobilized to support the relief operations.
About twenty people are affected by the incident. Two victims are in critical condition. They are a fifty-year-old woman and a sixteen-year-old, transported to Pasteur 2 Hospital in a hyperbaric chamber. Nine other people are in a less critical condition. One victim has been directed to the burn unit in Marseille.
The circumstances of how the fire started remain unknown at this stage. A full assessment of the human and material toll will be conducted once the intervention is complete.
