First edition of Maitres du Gout in Cagnes-sur-Mer and great success of the event.

Latest News

As with any initiative in its early stages, the organizers (the Italian Chamber of Commerce of Nice and the Town Hall of Cagnes-sur-Mer) feared a mediocre outcome, even a flop in case of bad weather.

Contrary to expectations, it was a great success helped by mostly summer-like weather, with only a minor, almost anecdotal, shower on the first day.

The Italian Chamber of Commerce, benefiting from its experience in managing public events such as “Italy on the Table” in Nice (more than 130,000 visitors) or “Bread, Love and Chocolate” in Antibes (45,000 visitors), skillfully organized this first edition dedicated to artisanal food products and food education according to the Slow-Food philosophy.

The goal of the two organizers was to promote a culture of discovering the true flavors of the land and tradition.

This was achieved in two parts:

– The market for local products, a showcase of high-quality artisanal products not available in large-scale distribution.
– The demonstration and conference space for spreading the culture of healthy and authentic food, with workshops and numerous demonstrations offered by the Escoffier Hotel School.

The presence of Convivium Slow Food Southeast and the Principality of Monaco also allowed for the presentation of the Slow Food philosophy to the public, which attracted new enthusiasts of “good eating.”

The event was inaugurated by the Senator-Mayor of Cagnes-sur-Mer, who hosted Mr. Eugenio Ladovaz, Vice-Consul of Italy in Nice, and the President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce of Nice, Daniele Vaccarino.

28 exhibitors were present, much to the delight of the visitors, and plans are already underway for the second edition.
