Agnès Rampal wanted the title of Vice-President and not just that of Commission President. As it was not granted to her, she is leaving the Regional Council.
In charge of the Euro-Mediterranean, she feels deprived of a deserved right after so many years of work to advance this issue that is clearly close to her heart: “For years I have been working to smooth relations between the land where I was born and the one where I live today.”
She justifies what could be seen as an act of egocentrism: “I am surprised that newcomers are obtaining the position I hoped for, while they have just been elected.”
No names, but a barely veiled allusion. Unfortunately for her, the young are ambitious.
Region President Renaud Muselier clarifies: “There are only fifteen vice-presidents, I have to distribute them. Mrs. Rampal was at the head of a commission tailor-made for her. It doesn’t satisfy her, I acknowledge that. The tasks she assumed will be distributed.”
The resignation of the Nice representative will allow the first deputy mayor of Saint-Laurent-du-Var, Thomas Berettoni, to join the regional assembly. He too is a young person, certainly happy to seize the opportunity.
As for Agnès Rampal, she doesn’t regret her decision: “I will continue to serve on the Municipal Council where I am in charge of the Euro-Mediterranean.“
How do you say “to leave by the door and come in through the window”?
