A little over a year ago, during the night of October 3 to 4, 2015, extremely violent weather struck the Alpes-Maritimes. In response to this dramatic event, the Department of Alpes-Maritimes, the Prefecture, the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, the urban communities, communes, and river unions decided to create a joint tool for flood prevention for the Alpes-Maritimes, the Siagne and Riou de l’Argentière watersheds for the Var and the Haut-Var watershed for the Alpes de Haute-Provence to provide effective and rapid responses to the imperative of population protection.
Therefore, this structure will bring together all resources to establish a common strategy for organizing local water management skills, continuing and amplifying very operational actions, which notably include carrying out hydraulic work and developing new forecasting and decision support services for managing hydrometeorological risks.
The mixed union for flood management, development, and water management (SMIAGE) Maralpin, which is holding its first union committee, contributes to this challenge.
