The citizen must decide with their soul and conscience. Despite what we hear here and there, the official campaign has been good. Good in the sense that all twelve were able to express themselves and present their programs. We know their personalities. We know what France will be if this or that candidate is elected. The pre-campaign, however, was mediocre. We only heard about two contenders, and then came the time for the sponsorship race. Lobbying, pressure, and underhanded strategies have harmed and overshadowed what is important. Josรฉ Bovรฉ, Philippe De Villiers, Dominique Voynet, Olivier Besancenot had to battle to present themselves to the citizens. This race was even more dreadful for those who did not get the 500 sponsorships. Who knows the program of Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, just to name one? Itโs a system that needs revisionโฆ
How to vote? With an ID, a voter’s card, and after a short walk in the polling station, you drop the ballot in the box… Very simple. Less simple is understanding the electoral strategies. Let me explain. A certain number of voters, and do not count on Nice Premium to quantify them, have developed a tactic. For example, a socialist-leaning voter, finding Sรฉgolรจne Royal too “centrist,” will vote for an anti-liberal candidate to express their desire for the PS (Socialist Party) to move further left. The same thing can happen on the right. A voter will choose De Villiers or Le Pen to tell Nicolas Sarkozy: “Be more right-wing, more patriotic…” The candidates fear this phenomenon. They’ve expressed this by reminding not to scatter votes under the term “The useful vote is me.” Lionel Jospin experienced this in 2002. A forewarned socialist… is a forewarned socialist! On Wednesday in Nice, we heard Marie George Buffet hoping to benefit from this fact of floating votes, sort of U.F.V. (Unidentified Voting Object).
There are other unknowns. Firstly, the Bayrou vote. In unweighted polls, he would be second behind Nicolas Sarkozy. After analyses by polling institutes, he ranks third or fourth. Many voters are ready and charmed by the candidate and the Bayrou project. They hesitate about the feasibility of his proposal to unite democratic forces. How many Bayrou supporters will withdraw to give their votes to a program that seems less utopian to them? Once again, do not count on Nice Premium to answer this question. We are not going to play political scientists. Let’s play it safe and wait until Sunday 8 PM. And then there are the undecided. They make up 30%. Some will abstain or not vote. Others took advantage of the weekend to make up their minds. The rest will choose in the voting booth. Who will this benefit? The one who gives the best last image of themselves, the one who has the sincerest smile at their polling station, or the most accurate words. Presence in the second round might hinge on very little. According to estimates, the threshold will be around 6 million votesโฆ Who wants to win the 6 million? Four candidates still hope. I canโt wait until Sunday 8 PM for the suspense to end.
