Valberg is always ahead when it comes to environmental protection… and today becomes the first and only municipality in the Alpes Maritimes to be labeled “Starred Cities and Villages” by the [ANPCEN](https://www.anpcen.fr/?id_rub=19) (National Association for the Protection of the Sky and the Environment)!!
This first star highlights Valberg’s comprehensive environmental approach, focusing specifically on the protection of the night environment, the sky, and biodiversity.
A star that rewards new improvements: automation of public lighting, turning off lights from midnight to 6 am, Valberg highlights the energy and budget savings achieved.
This represents 85,000 kWh saved per year, which accounts for 30% of current consumption and 20% of the electricity bill.
In the near future, Valberg is working towards obtaining the second star by replacing its public lighting.
