Amateurs, professionals, and the simply curious gathered on Wednesday night at the “Smarties” to dance and drink to the rhythm of electronic sounds. The mix of genres was the highlight. Floral shirts, suits, or wide pants. All styles united for the same purpose: young or old, tourists or locals from Nice were there to discover new talents or enjoy famous DJs. The festival started slowly. The Rue Defly establishment doesn’t pretend to be like the theater of Verdure. The opening night took place in a rather intimate atmosphere. At 10PM, DJ Riton took the decks. A mix of electro, rap, or hip-hop sounds. The evening went well but rather calmly.
The atmosphere was not electrified. There were more discussions than wild dances. One had to elbow their way and be patient to reach the bar. Once served, it was 6 euros for a kir and 11 euros for a cocktail. As the evening progressed, the temperature rose. The bar filled up as the glasses emptied rapidly. Some preferred to stay at the bar while others moved on the “dance floor.” Some took a breather on the sidewalk before returning to party even harder. The festival is just beginning, and Nu-ziq promises great surprises. On Thursday night, Nu-Ziq settled at the Hi-Hรดtel. But more importantly, a “rising intensity” on Friday and Saturday at the theater of Verdure.
