Next Wednesday, May 18, the Promenade des Anglais will transform into a family-style triathlon arena with the qualifying round of the FitDays, whose regional and national finals will be held this year in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, in Sisteron and Castellane.
Thus, a true little triathlon village will be set up on the sidewalk of Plage du Centenaire, opposite the open-air theater, at the heart of which will be a seawater pool, complete with a neighboring blue sea, a biking circuit, and a running track. Once registered, children aged 5 to 12 can set off for 20 meters of swimming, 1 kilometer of mountain biking, and finish with 250 meters of running. Starting at 6 p.m., competitors can participate in relays as a duo or with family (a child born between 2010 and 2004 and their teammate, born in 2003 or earlier) with 20m of swimming for the youngest and 1km of running for the older participants.
To participate, simply bring your swimsuit, running shoes, and a towel. The organization provides mountain bikes and even wetsuits when the water in the pool set up by the organization is a bit chilly. Children who prefer not to swim can partake in duathlon waves (mountain biking + running). Experienced instructors, holding the BF5 triathlon certificate and the BNSSA, supervise the children, who progress safely under the watchful eyes of the organizers.
Around the sporting event, which will qualify 12 young boys and girls from Nice for the regional final, numerous prevention and information stands will offer training in lifesaving skills, provide comprehensive information on perfect nutrition, and teach proper waste sorting methods. The City of Nice Health Department will also be present with a focus on vaccination.
Thus, a beautiful day of sports and health awaits on May 18 on the Promenade des Anglais, once again offering one of the world’s most beautiful settings for a triathlon that promises to be worth the visit…
