In France, Friday marks the end of the workweek and the beginning of the weekend, but for the most passionate music lovers, this day also marks the arrival of new music releases.
Nolwenn Leroy – *La Cavale*
The 39-year-old Breton singer releases her eighth album “La Cavale” this Friday, November 12. Three years after “Folk,” the former winner of Star Academy 2002 returns with a new project of 11 tracks, including two songs already released: “Brésil, Finistère,” whose video was released at the end of August, and “Mon beau corsaire” released two weeks ago.
In this album, Nolwenn Leroy appears freer and opens up more about her life and success. She attributes this freedom to a collaboration with Benjamin Biolay, who writes several tracks of her new album and produces it.
Bernard Lavilliers – *Sous un soleil énorme*
At 75 years old, the French singer publishes his 28th album of his long career. After five years, Bernard Lavilliers returns with “Sous un soleil énorme,” a project conceived in Argentina. The album aims to be filled with positive vibes and highlights the importance of staying united and optimistic.
Three tracks stand out entirely: “Beautiful Days,” where the artist takes on Emmanuel Macron and his policies, “Je tiens d’elle” in a duet with his fellow Stephanois from Terrenoire, and finally, “Qui a tué David Moore” featuring Eric Cantona, Hervé, and Gaëtan Roussel.
Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak – *An Evening with Silk Sonic*
Five years after his successful album “24k Magic,” Bruno Mars is back! The hit singer known for songs like “Treasure,” “The Lazy Song,” and “Locked out of Heaven” has teamed up with Anderson Paak to create the group Silk Sonic for an album. “An Evening with Silk Sonic.” Composed of 8 tracks, it pays homage to the Funk and soul of the 70s through retro and catchy melodies. The group had already released a track from the album last March: “Leave the Door Open,” which has been listened to hundreds of millions of times!
Ziak – *Akimbo*
Is a new face of French rap emerging? Yes and no, because Ziak’s face remains unknown, hidden behind a hood and a bandana, yet the artist is breaking records online and on streaming platforms. At the end of 2020, when the rap world was marked by the emergence of a new style from the United Kingdom, “Drill,” he became the star of the moment in French rap with his hit singles like “Raspoutine” or “Fixette.”
The album is already generating a lot of reactions on social networks, suggesting that we haven’t seen the last of Ziak.
PLK – *Enna Boost*
In August 2020, one of the young princes of French rap, released his 6th project “Enna.” “Polak” publishes this Friday the reissue of his latest album, certified double platinum, with 11 new tracks. Among these tracks, we find several artists from the emerging French scene like Oboy and SDM, and one of the big names, SCH, with whom he has already collaborated in the past.
At 24, the rapper already has billions of listens on YouTube and streaming platforms thanks to a diversity of sounds ranging from “club tracks,” to pure and hard rap, and emotional pieces. With this reissue, he continues to show the public his success and progression, proof that he is gradually establishing himself among the greats of the genre, even though he is still at the beginning of his career.
