The famous gouache Flowers and Fruits painted by Henri Matisse is back after several months of renovation at the Matisse Museum.
In 2021, a research and preventive conservation program around cut-out gouache papers was initiated by the museum thanks to a partnership with Yomiuri Shimbun (Japan).
And so, after several months of renovation, the large cut-out gouache Flowers and Fruits is once again presented to the public at the Matisse Museum.
It is now covered with a large display case allowing the artwork to be protected from external elements such as light, climate variations, and especially pests.
The mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, was present to inaugurate the reception of the new display case.
Very happy to be at the Matisse Museum for the reception of the new display case โFlowers and Fruits.โ Two elements that will be highlighted this summer by our Biennale, two elements that celebrate life, color, pleasure, which means #Nice06! pic.twitter.com/fdcBX7Sy5a
