Flu: Improvement Observed in PACA

Latest News

Since the beginning of the seasonal flu epidemic, the General Directorate of Health (DGS) has repeatedly issued alert messages and recommendations on recommended actions and measures to take. After the activation of the ORSAN plan and the white plan, the situation is improving.

The Regional Health Agencies (ARS) have followed these recommendations and reallocated resources based on identified priorities. As such, according to the local context, they have encouraged health facilities to trigger their “hospital in tension” system or their white plan, strengthened the continuity of outpatient care, and provided guidelines for medico-social establishments.

As the peak approaches and due to the intense activity in emergency rooms, the Minister of Social Affairs, Health, and Women’s Rights, Marisol TOURAINE, activated the ORSAN plan nationwide on February 19. This plan allows the Regional Health Agencies (ARS) to implement additional measures if necessary, including resorting to the health reserve.

Currently, in the declining epidemic context, the activity of healthcare facilities remains at a high level but is significantly decreasing. A significant number of healthcare facilities remain under pressure, specifically 66 facilities to date, corresponding to less than 10% of healthcare facilities hosting an emergency department. Two facilities have activated their white plan, and a third has called on the health reserve. The difficulties are concentrated on emergency services and post-acute care beds given the high number of elderly people hospitalized.

The tensions are mainly located in the following regions: Centre, Pays de la Loire, Burgundy, Upper Normandy, Brittany, Rhรดne-Alpes. Despite persistent tensions, the situation is improving in Ile-de-France and Midi-Pyrรฉnรฉes. Additionally, improvement is observed in the following regions: Aquitaine, Paca, Limousin.
