Benoit Loeuillet will learn to his detriment that his attraction to a microphone can be costly and that as soon as you kneel, instead of helping you back up, everyone piles on you.
In an increasingly media-driven society, with communicators who have become the modern Clausewitz of candidate-actors (hence the deceptive popularity of one of them, appreciated by his voters and… especially female voters with the following motivation: “he doesn’t say anything, but as it is so well put”) and journalist-scoop hunters in a Sherlock Holmes version, (and sometimes just the messengers of “offices”), in search of glory and more often vanity.
For having made seemingly negationist remarks during an interview broadcast on a television channel, Benoit Loeuillet, the FN regional councilor, will “very soon be summoned before the disciplinary bodies of the movement with a view to his exclusion,” announced a communiqué from the Front National.
“When Benoit Loeuillet sought a nomination on the FN list for the regional elections in December 2015, he never expressed these kinds of intolerable remarks before us. From this day on, he is no longer part of the Front National group on the Paca Regional Council,” retorted Marion Maréchal-Le Pen.
Other FN leaders downright insulted him, attributing to him a capacity for nuisance far greater than reality.
In fact, Benoit Loeuillet is the right-hand man (so to speak) of Philippe Vardon and, like him, comes from the Nissa Rebela identity movement which entered the institutional political system by joining RBM first and then the FN.
A novice in the realms of real politics, he did not quite understand that one must control their communication and especially never say what, most likely, one doesn’t even think.
For the record, the “scandal” interview was filmed with a hidden camera, which says a lot about the author’s ethics!
Poor Benoit Loeuillet must have taken some time to understand what happened to him and what must be beyond him: “I categorically deny the portrait that this report intends to paint of me. I have, of course, in no way denied the reality of the Holocaust.”
“As a consequence, I am asking my lawyer to file a complaint against the ‘journalist’ Quentin Pichon, the production of this report, and against C8 for public defamation.”
Unfortunately for him, this will not be of much help. In the evening, Benoît Loeuillet announced his resignation from the FN and the FN group at the Regional Assembly.
