The 24th edition of the Prix Goncourt des Lycéens has been launched, in the presence of the Goncourt Academicians and Alexandre Bompard, CEO of Fnac, the organizer of this Prize.
On the same day, the Goncourt Academicians released the list of books competing for the 2011 Prix Goncourt.
From this list, the 2,000 participating high school students will choose the laureate of the 24th edition of the Prix Goncourt des Lycéens, designed and organized by Fnac and the Ministry of National Education, with the approval of the Goncourt Academy and based on their selection.
Over two months, 2,000 young people, aged 15 to 17, in their second, first, final years of high school, or in a general, scientific, or technical BTS program, will read this selection alongside their regular school activities.
They will receive a set of the 15 books in competition from Fnac to read, study with their teacher, and engage with authors whom they will have the opportunity to meet throughout this reading marathon.
The announcement of the laureate will take place on Monday, November 7th, in Rennes.
A class of second-year students from Lycée Saint Joseph in Roquebrune Cap Martin is participating this year with Fnac Monaco, under the guidance of Olivier Tock, a literature teacher, and Sophie Zanin, a librarian.
