The Professional Football League (LFP) has officially ended the 2019-2020 season of Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, which was shortened by about ten matches due to the Covid-19 epidemic.
The LFP has decided to award the Ligue 1 champion title to PSG, the third consecutive title for the club from the capital. Behind PSG, Olympique de Marseille finishes second for the season and will also qualify for the Champions League.
The LFP seems to favor the ranking that takes into account all the matches, including those of the 28th matchday, which was not complete. If this scenario (which is to be formally adopted in mid-May) is retained, Stade Rennais would be 3rd, Lille 4th, Reims 5th, and Nice 6th.
The Aiglons would qualify for the Europa League (preliminary round) but will have to wait for the potential holding of the cup finals, possibly in early August, PSG-ASSE in the French Cup, PSG-OL in the League Cup.
If the cup finals take place, the Europa League slots will be awarded to the winners, as long as it is not PSG (already qualified for the Champions League).
