For 2006, I dream of…

2005 is well behind us and 2006 is looming on our azure horizon. A new year that starts with its cohort of wise decisions and cautious promises, and which will leave its indelible mark on everyone.

So, I wondered what do I expect from these next twelve months?
How would I like events to unfold for my loved ones and for myself?

2005 was undoubtedly the year of my job search, even though I am now among the many lucky ones who have moved to the employment side by finding a position last October. But, and yes there is always a “but,” the job market and solutions to invigorate it are still devastated in our city as in our region.

I therefore dream of a consultation of the main employment stakeholders in the city, the department, and the region in order to propose coherent initiatives to address the difficulties faced by both job seekers and companies in the recruitment process. The Departmental Employment Portal is under development and is progressing under the auspices of the Alpes-Maritimes General Council with the impetus of Jean-Pierre Mangiapan.

2005 was also the year of the birth of Nice Première by a group of friends who were determined to provide daily news of the city in which they were born, grew up, and work for the most part.

I dream therefore of a similar evolution for the coming months, hoping nonetheless to be less compelled to delete messages that are insulting, racist, discriminatory, or xenophobic. Nice Première is a space of freedom; please respect it as it deserves.

2005 was also the year of the loss of some people I would still like to have by my side to continue the long road of life. Don’t they say that the best ones always leave too soon?

I dream therefore of enjoying every day the chance to be surrounded by my family, friends, colleagues, and even my enemies. Listen to them, talk to them, share what I know and who I am, just as I benefit from their wisdom and experience.
Thanks to Serge, Fernand, and Jacques and see you elsewhere!

2005 was also my first year as an elected parent of students in the kindergarten that welcomes my five-year-old son and a hundred other little ones from the Riquier and Saint Roch neighborhoods.

I dream here of a real awakening of parents, teachers, directors, and municipal managers to create a true “skill hub” together that would make the school as useful as it is pleasant.

Here are some of the dreams that will make my 2006, and you, what are you dreaming about for this new year?
