The extracurricular educational reception time has become a real problem for the Niรงois, who are rejecting the 15โฌ per month fee.
The Extracurricular Educational Reception Time (TAEP), implemented as part of the school rhythm reform, takes place after class on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 3:45 PM to 4:30 PM.
Some parents and members of the Nice educational community find this fixed fee, unique in France, of 15โฌ per month per child, unjust.
According to the Niรงois population, this fee would generate social inequalities. Furthermore, this fee is not affordable for all families, who sometimes have incomes that do not allow them to include these new expenses in their already tight budgets.
The fixed sum of 15โฌ for TAEP has been added to other municipal fees that are already high: morning daycare, which has increased from 14.90โฌ to 18โฌ, and evening supervised study: 35โฌ per month for four days a week.
The Niรงois have thus expressed their dissatisfaction, as they must spend nearly 130โฌ per month per child, including the canteen. This becomes very burdensome for large families but also for single parents.
What irritates the Niรงois is undoubtedly knowing that most cities in France have implemented free TAEP as well as progressive rates for morning and evening receptions.
Patrick Allemand, along with the elected members of the โAnother Future for Niceโ group, has therefore asked the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, to eliminate the 15โฌ per month fee and to establish the free provision of this TAEP so that Niรงois children have the same educational rights as other children in France. “I call this irresponsibility on the part of Christian Estrosi to implement this fixed fee, he must react and change this because Nice, still the fifth-largest city in France, is the only one that has chosen this fixed sum while others apply the principle of free access and progressive rates.”
A petition has therefore been set up for parents of students to express their dissatisfaction, with over 5,000 signatures.
The elected members of the โAnother Future for Niceโ group assure, “People were just waiting to sign this petition! They were even queuing. They realized that it was a decision of the Nice city hall. The Mayor is responsible for this disorder.”
