France planned to issue around 195 billion euros of debt on the markets in 2018. A record high compared to the 185 billion in 2017 and… 128.5 billion 10 years earlier.
Even though these amounts can be dizzying, French debt still enjoys considerable appeal thanks to the quality of its credit rating.
However, despite exceptional borrowing conditions, the projected interest charge for 2018 is 41.2 billion euros, an amount close to the National Education budget.
