She was elected during the board meeting that followed last Saturday’s general assembly. In 131 years of existence, a woman had never led the association before.

For many years, she has particularly overseen the publication of “Echos de la Tour Rouge,” the club’s magazine. Along with her husband, she is an avid sailor (cruising yacht).

She has worked in import-export and real estate construction companies. Deeply involved in community life, she is also passionate about music —particularly opera— as well as traveling.

The new president aims to continue the approach of her predecessors, which focuses on promoting sports and leisure activities that contribute to the prestige of a club boasting some 800 members, especially in the fields of sailing and rowing, the club’s two main sections.

The elections to the board during the general assembly also, for the first time, resulted in proportional representation of men and women: 7 out of 21 administrators are women.

For Françoise Conti: “The Nautical Club, while remaining true to its founding act, must continue on a path marked by medals and develop an educational and sporting mission within our city. It also contributes by organizing numerous nautical events to enliven the magnificent ‘Baie des Anges’.”
