Frédérique Vidal was elected president of the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis on Thursday, April 19, 2012. A professor of life sciences and director of the faculty of sciences, she succeeds Albert Marouani, a professor of economic sciences, who had been leading the institution since 2004.
Her candidacy received 17 votes in favor, and 5 blank votes.
