Free exceptional concert by the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra Friday, June 11

A radiant evening awaits the people of Nice on Friday, June 11, 2010, at 8:30 PM in the Jardins Albert 1er. As part of the 150th anniversary of the annexation of the County of Nice to France, the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra, accompanied by the Opera Choirs and the Nice Philharmonic Choirs, under the baton of Philippe Auguin, will present the following program: “Ode to Nice, the Beautiful,” composed on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the annexation of the County of Nice to France, by Pierrette Mari, a composer and musicologist born in Nice and winner of the Grand Prix of the city of Nice in 1947. The second part of the evening will further reflect the annexation of the County of Nice to France, and now its connection to Europe, with Ludwig van Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, performed notably by Soprano Isabelle CALS, Mezzo-Soprano Andrea BAKER, Tenor Peter HOARE, and Bass Markus BRÜCK. Let us recall that the final choir has been the European anthem since 1972.
