This program, broadcast on Tuesdays from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM, will give prominence to local artists as well as jazz standards, all enhanced by the musical culture and the inimitable style of the Voice of Jazz on the Côte d’Azur, Sir Ali, whom we are very pleased to welcome to the Fréquence K team.
This program complements the Fréquence K lineup, the last free radio station of the Côte d’Azur, whose values more than ever include freedom of tone and an eclectic programming focused on discovering new talents and rediscovering forgotten tracks. The only radio station on the Côte d’Azur to also offer two hours of broadcasting in Niçois each week, hosted by Patrice and Djé from the group Nux Vomica.
Work carried out this summer on the transmitter has significantly improved listening comfort, especially in the center of Nice. Fréquence K can be listened to on FM from Menton to Mandelieu on 103.4 MHz.
Nice Premium met José Garcia and Christian Gagne, who spoke to us about this vintage of the new Fréquence K cuvée. A grand cru without a doubt!!!
Nice Premium: So what’s new at FRK?
Fréquence K: New features and the continuation of the work begun two seasons ago to diversify and color our lineup: Fréquence K is no longer just a rock radio station but also, and above all, a station that opens its airwaves to Salsa, Reggae, Jazz, Electro, and world music. All this thanks to our eclectic music programming and our thematic evening and weekend shows.
NP: A Sir is joining the broadcast?
Fréquence K: Indeed, we have worked on this project which is dear to our hearts. We met Sir Ali, who had long served on TSF and had found himself without a station to share his passion and immense musical culture. Since our approaches to the radio world are similar, we naturally opened our airwaves to him and he agreed to host a weekly show on Tuesdays from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM. His first show is on September 18th. We are very happy to have him on our team.
NP: The Niçois language is also one of the stars of the new season, isn’t it?
Fréquence K: At Fréquence K, we have always promoted cultural events and musical groups from the region. Recently, we aired a first show with the Corrou de Berra, and every Friday from 6:00 PM, it’s the can’t-miss event of Patrice and Djé: Raggapéro, in Niçois!
It’s one of the oldest shows in our lineup. In everyday life, Patrice teaches the Niçois language and Djé is the DJ of the Niçois group Nux Vomica. Every Friday, they deliver on our airwaves a skillful mix of chat and local ragga with a tone that is uniquely theirs.
NP: Some improvements on the transmitter side too, I believe?
Fréquence K: Yes, a more technical aspect: Our Radio Director Father Jean Blondin worked all summer for better reception of our station, especially in downtown Nice, where we had trouble being received correctly. Fréquence K can now be listened to in Nice with much better comfort.
NP: Any other projects in the pipeline for Fréquence K?
Fréquence K: Fréquence K gathers a team of music and radio enthusiasts. We have many ideas and we want to shake things up, particularly by strengthening the associative and alternative spirit of the radio. We are proud to be the last radio station on the Côte d’Azur from the explosion of the FM band in the 80s and which still operates as such (with our friends from Agora FM in Grasse). We want to make that known and to cultivate our uniqueness. And as for projects, a partnership with a local website, but shhh!
NP: Finally, the local elections are fast approaching. Is Fréquence K going to open up to politics?
Fréquence K: We are primarily a music radio, but still a citizen one. Moreover, Fréquence K has already opened up to politics by hosting actors from local political life in recent months.
We intend to maintain our independence as the electoral deadlines approach and will naturally cover this intriguing subject in the coming weeks during our daily local news segments.
Thank you and see you soon on Fréquence K 103.4 FM!
