“Friday pilou on the Promenade”

Latest News

This Friday, the Nissa Pilo Association is resuming its Pilou activities as it does every summer. They are held in the magical setting of the Promenade des Anglais on the “pilou stadium,” at the Gambetta level, near the Voilier beach. They will continue every Friday evening from 6 PM until September.

During these evenings, demonstrations will take place to showcase the unique aspects of this sport. Introductory sessions are also planned to introduce this sport to the locals of Nice as well as to our Italian, Spanish, Russian, Anglo-Saxon, Canadian, and… Chinese visitors.

These evenings are hosted by the Nissa Pilo team; its best players and coaches, René Bodenès, Emmanuel Nicolai, Christian Delobette, Jean Paul Robbi, José Maria, Ninou Bernardi, and André Giordan, former world champions, offer their expert advice. Elie Gallo takes great pleasure in explaining the rules of the game and its origin. This Friday, like every other, will feature the participation of personalities (artists, writers, actors, etc.).

For those who want to know more…

Pilou is a high-flying, highly dexterous sport from Nice. It is played with almost nothing: a holed coin and a bit of paper acting as a shuttlecock. Yet, it is gaining growing popularity among young people in schools or during Mais. It can be played for fun by making beautiful passes. In competition, the goal is to surprise opponents and send the pilou into one of the two opponent circles.

More than thirty teams, among the best, competed in the last Coaraze Championships. A Pilou League takes place every winter on the piloudrome of Mont Boron.
