The unique project in France allowing one to connect the highest peaks of the Mercantour to the azure shores, accessible to the greatest number: “The Auron-Nice Journey in Electric Assisted Mountain Bike” was unveiled during a conference by Christian Estrosi, accompanied by Amaรซl MOINARD (10 Tour de France participations, 3 GIRO, and 3 Vuelta), Geoffroy LEQUATRE (3 Tours de France, 3 Vuelta), Charly BERARD, loyal teammate of Bernard HINAULT (7 Tour de France participations), and Fabien Barel, five-time French Champion and double World Elite Downhill Mountain Bike Champion.
This will be a route in 7 stages between Auron and Nice, crossing 16 communes, 261 km which averages 40 km/day, with a positive elevation gain of +7,000 m.
It plans to include a passage through the Bonette, the highest road pass in Europe, and finish on the Promenade des Anglais!
In each village, services adapted to mountain bikers: charging stations, washing and inflation facilities, and information boards.
The schedule plans for operational launch in July 2020 after defining the route, trail development, and installation of signage, eco-counters, and washing/inflation stations.
The cost of the operation is 844 thousand euros, with 197 thousand borne by the Metropolis, and the remainder by various public organizations.
