With the participation of the 13 professional clubs from the 06 region, numerous high-level athletes, and leaders of the amateur associative network, the Garden Party Sport celebrates Azur sports. Here’s a recap of this gala evening.

“Sport is not just any activity; it is a true culture, a way of living, meeting, surpassing oneself, an epic journey for both individuals and groups.” emphatically declares Charles Ange Ginésy, president of the Alpes-Maritimes Department. Accompanied by numerous Maralpin athletes on stage, Charles Ange Ginésy took the time to celebrate each of them with a unique ovation.

This evening, dedicated to Azur sports, was an opportunity for the president of the Alpes-Maritimes Department to reaffirm the community’s support for the 13 professional clubs of the 06 region. Among them are OGC Nice, Nissa Rugby, AS Cannes, OGC Nice Handball, the Antibes Sharks, Hockey Elite, Judo Nice Métropole, and Volero Le Cannet. “The locomotives that are the 13 top-level clubs of the 06 region bring sports to life in our neighborhoods, in our villages…” he continues in a festive and celebratory spirit.

A unique event for the development of Azur sports

Besides professional sports, the community also supports amateur clubs of all sports, such as ASPTT Nice, Racing Club de Grasse, and the Circle of Swimmers of Cannes. “This is a highly symbolic event. It allows for conversations between different disciplines. Regardless of resources, everyone faces the same challenges. This event fosters exchanges and helps to develop Azur sports positively”, states Jean-Pierre Rivère, former President of OGC Nice for 14 years.

This Garden Party Sport allowed for the celebration of athletes who represent the Maralpin territory throughout the year in their respective disciplines (trail running, freediving, cycling, judo, shooting, gymnastics…). Charles Ange Ginésy, as the foremost supporter of Maralpin sports, did not fail to acknowledge and thank these athletes. These performances demonstrate the vitality and outreach of Azur sports. “Sport is a mosaic of disciplines, a constellation of talents, and a melting pot of positive energies emanating from all corners of our territory. A territory where about one in five residents holds a sports license”, asserts the president of the Alpes-Maritimes.

Plan Sport 2028

The Alpes-Maritimes Department reaffirms its intention to strengthen and develop sports practices throughout the territory. Equipped with nearly ten million euros, this Plan Sport launched in 2023 is ambitious. It pursues several important objectives: valuing the local associative network, supporting top-level sports, promoting health-related sports, facilitating disabled sports, energizing outdoor disciplines, and supporting ecological transitions. Additionally, the departmental community is supporting this year more than 640 clubs with over seven million euros.

For Charles Ange Ginésy, the mid-term review is positive. “The progress of the plan is very satisfactory. When we develop the desire for bicycles and cycling, we try to mobilize all Maralpins to encourage participation in the sports cycle. Handicap is also taken into account in this plan, especially with disabled skiing and equestrian activities. In this regard, progress is commendable. We are widely established throughout the territory. This year, the plan focuses on the sea school, the Loïc Leferme school, proof of local recognition.”

During the evening, numerous activities, including a breathing workshop led by Guillaume Néry, offered a moment of conviviality and sharing around the values of sport. Pétanque grounds, a bowling workshop, American football, photo call, and musical ambiance, this Garden Party Sport brought together and celebrated all of Azur sports.
