In front of Albert 1er Garden, a gathering of 1,000 people took place yesterday around 11 a.m. to pay tribute to the victims of July 14th.
“All in White” was the directive from the organizers. This morning, between 1,000 and 1,500 people gathered to hang balloons and stars on the bandstand.
This first static gathering was authorized by the prefecture. The names of the 85 victims were read one by one, before starting to sing “Nissa la bella” and “La Marseillaise.” At noon, following the cannon shot, a minute of silence also took place.
A few elected officials joined the movement, such as Philippe Pradal, Mayor of Nice, Eric Ciotti, president of the departmental council, and Patrick Allemand (PS).
