Firstly, we must commend the initiative of its President, Henri Mondino, for inviting the elected officials and leaders from the Cรดte d’Azur to three assemblies in one: those of the Departmental Committees of Alpes-Maritimes and Var, and that of the Territorial Committee of the Cรดte d’Azur. The decision was not without significance but clearly aimed at creating a common spirit that transcends administrative divides to unite all the Cรดte d’Azur clubs into one large family: that of the land of Ovalie citizens, as the slogan of this same Committee aptly emphasizes.
Then, it was also an opportunity for overviews, which allowed for observing progress in all areas, even though, quite naturally, there were regrets about not having been able to do better. Regarding concerns, the interventions by the Vice President of the Regional Council in charge of Youth and Sports, Anne-Julie Clary, the Deputy President of CROS, Pierre Cambreal, and also the delegate of the Departmental Directorate of Social Cohesion of Alpes-Maritimes, Serge Mayerus, highlighted the policy of disengagement by local authorities in funding sports activities, which will force clubs to address the issue of finding alternative sources for their own funds. This is a theme that will require much interest and attention in the future.
It was also an occasion for a general thank you to the volunteers without whom nothing would be possible. Hence, the proposal to create a legal status of “volunteer manager” was met with much interest and received the approval of all present. A file to follow…
