The elite high school seniors were invited this Wednesday to the graduation ceremony of the Baccalauréat degree by the General Council of Alpes-Maritimes. Eric Ciotti, its president, congratulated and rewarded the 766 students who achieved the “very good” distinction.
Last Friday at 10 AM, more than 680,000 seniors received their results: diploma, retake, or repeat. Five days later, the General Council of Alpes-Maritimes decided to invite the top achievers from the department, the graduates who received the “very good” distinction.
In the year 2014, there are 766 of them, from all streams, who earned the highest distinction compared to 722 in 2013, representing a 5% increase. Generally, the number stands at 677 while for technological streams it is 43, and in the vocational stream, the number rises to 46. “The General Council is proud of your work. Success is never achieved alone. That is why I want to acknowledge your families, your surroundings, not forgetting the heads of institutions and the teaching staff,” emphasized Eric Ciotti, president of the General Council of Alpes-Maritimes.
On this occasion, each student who achieved the “Grail” will receive a €200 check from the General Council in the coming days. Two female students had the honor of stepping onto the podium to receive a medal from Eric Ciotti: Victoire Bonaud, 16 years old, is the youngest to achieve the distinction in the department, and Cristina Coltofeanu, 38 years old, is the oldest. The award for the institution with the highest number of “very good” mentions goes to Lycée International de Valbonne with 91 top students. “A new path opens up before you.
Continue your work and your daily commitment,” concluded the president of the General Council before directing the many guests to the buffet set up in the gardens of the Administrative Center.
