Signing of the partnership agreement between the City of Nice and the Territorial Directorate of Judicial Protection (P.J.J.) of Alpes-Maritimes & First Assessment

In line with the commitment made by Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice, President of the Nice Cรดte d’Azur Metropolis, during the Plenary Assembly of the CLSPD on September 20, 2010, the City of Nice provides the Nice Court of First Instance with positions within municipal and metropolitan services for the execution of General Interest Work sentences by minors.

During the year 2011, the City of Nice welcomed 20 minors sentenced to G.I.W.

One year after its implementation, the Mayor of Nice will conduct a first assessment of this recidivism prevention program targeted at young people.

The specificity of the City of Nice, which has earned it mention as an example during the National G.I.W. Day, lies in offering the โ€˜g.i.w. participantsโ€™ a wide variety of positions within different departments: Sports, Culture, Animation and Leisure, Green Spaces, Development…

General Interest Work involves an obligation for a convicted person to perform hours of work for the benefit of a public or private legal entity. The G.I.W. has three objectives: to penalize an infraction, to offer the young convicted person the opportunity to contribute to their community, and to foster in this action an approach of training and integration for the minor.
