After leading the race throughout the event, it comes as no surprise that the predicted favorite wins this 2017 edition.
He did it! Gilles Frediani confirmed his status as the favorite of this 3rd edition of the Ultra-Trail Côte d’Azur. He won this trail with a time of 25h 28min 41sec! He finished just a few minutes short of the record set last year.
Just after arriving, he shared his thoughts with Gilles Rondoni: “I am very happy! It’s a double satisfaction because, apart from my victory, I gained more than an hour and a quarter compared to last year.”
After running a large part of the course with Philippe Lecourt, he believes he “had good legs at the right moment” to widen the gap with his main competitors.
Relieved to have completed this event, he wishes to thank the Vésubie Trail Club, whose incredible support at the end of the race allowed him to finish in style. “I had goosebumps!” he admits. He also wants to highlight the efficiency of the volunteers throughout the event. Whether it was those at the refreshment stations or those who marked the course, as this allowed “to move forward without having to search for where we were going.” A considerable comfort.
