Independence Day (in French: Le Jour de l’Indépendance or Fourth of July) is the national holiday of the United States of America, commemorating the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, from Great Britain.
On this occasion, Nice wanted to celebrate America and the Franco-American friendship in the presence of Simon R. Hankinson, the United States consul in Marseille, who was received by Rudy Salles, Deputy Mayor of Nice in charge of international relations.
For the record, Nice has been twinned with Miami since 1986.
After the official speeches, the evening continued with musical entertainment, jazz band, country dancing, and an introduction to American football.
