In February, the athletes of Nice Côte d’Azur Athletics adorned themselves with gold, silver, and bronze on various national podiums. For four of them, the indoor season will continue under the banner of the French team, like Frédéric Dagée, who will compete in the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade (Serbia) from March 3 to 5.

It only took a throw of 19.66m for Frédéric Dagée to seize control of the final of the French elite championships on his first attempt. On February 18, in Bordeaux, the 24-year-old from Nice won his first senior national title. This marked his second major performance of the season after breaking his record with 19.98m in Lyon on January 28, thus securing the minimum qualification for the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade the following week.

Also present in Bordeaux, Rouguy Diallo earned a silver medal in the triple jump with her third attempt, achieving a leap of 13.20m. Far from her personal best (14.20m), the junior world champion subsequently attempted, in vain, to reach the minimum of 13.95m.

Dean-Nick Allen adorned with gold in senior

In Lyon, on February 4 and 5, Dean-Nick Allen won the national indoor title in shot put, setting a new record with a throw of 17.19m. He now turns his attention to the French winter long throw championships, which will take place this weekend in Châteauroux.

First title for Yvan Lopes Ribeiro in long jump

Nice Côte d’Azur Athletics also gathered medals the previous week in Nantes, during the French cadet and junior championships. Yvan Lopes Ribeiro triumphed in the long jump final, improving his personal best with a leap of 7.16m, claiming his first title at 17 years of age. On March 4, the day before his coming of age, he will honor his first selection for the French team.

Emma Montoya, Camille Seri, Sara Nogueira Neves, and Mandana Vouillemin clinched the silver medal in the 4×200 m relay. The quartet crossed the finish line in 1’42″10.

Benjamin Mercier, with a jump of 1.97m, secured the bronze medal in the high jump. This is the first distinction earned by the young man in his career.
