Goodbye to the Théâtre de la Photographie et de l’Image, hello to the Théâtre Francis Huster.

It is said that history is an eternal renewal… The former Artistique Theatre, now the Theatre of Photography and Image, becomes the “Francis Huster” Theatre, a place for training and creation under the joint leadership of the actor and director Steve Suissa, who will oversee its management.

This new establishment will host a troupe, performances, and a theatre school with training programs. Up to 60 members can be accommodated for courses over several months, with access to all necessary facilities and an ideal space for performances.

This new venue will enhance the cultural dimension and work in synergy with Nice’s theatre world, including troupes and venues.

Moreover, in 2016, the Theatres Week, created in 2015, will become the Theatres Fortnight.

The initiators are ambitious: for them, “the idea is to select each year 60 highly motivated beginners of all ages, who will be trained for three months in theatre techniques. The most talented will be integrated into a troupe and mixed with seasoned actors to perform in plays throughout the Paca region, or even beyond,” say Francis Huster and Steve Suissa with one voice.

A theatre named after a living actor, even one of great renown, is rare and borders on immodesty. But Nice is also a city… rare!
