Great Passes of the Mercantour: 100% Cycling Ascension of the Col Saint-Martin (1500 m), the Madone de Fenestre (1910 m), and the Boréon (1491 m)

On Sunday, July 3, from 8 AM to 11 AM, in Saint-Martin Vésubie, the first day of the Grands Cols du Mercantour, 100% Cycling operation, will take place.

On this occasion, participants will have the opportunity to undertake three ascents:
– Col Saint-Martin (1500 m), 8 km on an open road,
– La Madone de Fenestre (1910 m), 11.4 km on a closed road,
– Le Boréon (1491 m), 8.5 km on an open road.

A snack will be offered to participants before departure, as well as refreshments at the start and finish of the cols.

Bike activities (gymkhana, electric bike rental) and mountain bike trials will take place throughout the morning.

An event 100% Cycling accessible to all

Open to cycling enthusiasts, cycle tourists, mountain bikers, tandems, etc., this event is accessible to everyone. Indeed, while the ascent to the cols is reserved for seasoned athletes, the path leading there can be enjoyed by a wide audience.

Also on the agenda, no timing, just the pleasure of participating and riding in an exceptional setting. Additionally, throughout the day, various cycling-related activities will be offered.

Upcoming dates:

July 10 – Col des Champs (2045 m): elevation gain + 945 m, distance 16 km

July 17 – Col de la Lombarde (2350 m): elevation gain + 1631 m, distance 22 km

July 24 – Col de la Bonette – Restefond (2715 m): elevation gain + 1764 m, distance 26 km
July 31 – Col de la Cayolle (2326 m): elevation gain + 1126 m, distance 15 km

As a bonus, athletes looking for performances can even reach the events via the bike paths of the Alpes-Maritimes.

Note that this initiative is part of the Plan Tourisme Vélo 06.

This Plan, initiated by the Department, aims to develop tourism in the medium and high country areas, through the implementation of 37 initiatives: development of loop and cycling routes, creation and marketing of tourist products: accommodation, dining, etc.
