The parachutists from the Alpes-Maritimes shone during the French Wingsuit Championship, held from August 1st to 3rd, 2025, in Grenoble. An important rehearsal before the international competitions scheduled in the Czech Republic in mid-August.
Last weekend, the Grenoble Parachuting School Center hosted the French Wingsuit Championship. Organized under the aegis of the French Parachuting Federation, this event brought together the best French practitioners in two disciplines: acrobatic wingsuit and performance wingsuit. Several participants from the Alpes-Maritimes were among the competitors and achieved notable results.
Enzo de Zulueta Y de Besson, residing in Saint-Cรฉzaire-sur-Siagne and affiliated with CERPS de Tallard, excelled in both categories. In solo performance, he won the silver medal in the N1 category. He also participated in the acrobatic event as the cameraman for the SkyUnit CERPS team, alongside Stรฉphane Zunino and Alban Begnis. The trio took the second place on the podium in the same category.
Stรฉphane Zunino, from La Saulce, is also affiliated with the Alpes-Maritimes, at the Parachuting Circle of Nice. The SkyUnit CERPS team is therefore partly from the Alpes-Maritimes, confirming the anchorage of this discipline in the department.
In the Wingsuit Acrobatic N2 category, another team stood out: the Team Flat Spin. Nicolas Durand, the cameraman of the team, lives in Beaulieu-sur-Mer and is affiliated with the Parachuting Circle of Nice. With his teammates Titouan Dubois Dodeler and Sylvain Bevand, he won the gold medal in this category.
These results confirm the consistency of the athletes from the Alpes-Maritimes, present in several teams and on multiple podiums.
Technical and demanding tests
The Championship offered two types of events. Acrobatic wingsuit is an artistic discipline. The teams perform seven jumps, four of which are compulsory and three are free. The moves are filmed in flight by a cameraman. Scoring is based on the videos, evaluating technique, aesthetics, and coordination. GPS is used to measure the duration of the sequences.
The wingsuit performance is an individual discipline, more focused on numerical data. Competitors complete six jumps, divided into three types: distance, horizontal speed, and overall flight performance. Measurements are recorded using a GPS and analyzed with dedicated software. Exiting the defined flight corridor results in penalties.
This championship also served as preparation for upcoming international competitions. The World Cup and the European Championships will be held from August 15 to 21, 2025, in Prostejov, Czech Republic. Several of the competitors present in Grenoble will participate, including some from the Alpes-Maritimes.
The results obtained this weekend show a certain stability in the performance of the teams. For the participants, it was also about refining their automatisms under real conditions. The challenge was therefore twofold: aiming for a national podium and preparing for the European scene.
Without making noise, the athletes from the Alpes-Maritimes establish themselves as strong players in this still under-publicized discipline. Their regular presence on national podiums testifies to a deep-rooted effort carried out within local clubs. August promises to be busy for them, with upcoming European deadlines.
