The word from Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice: “This is how an exceptional 12-hectare urban park will be born, in the heart of the city, above the Paillon, extending from the Jardin Albert 1er to the Théâtre National de Nice. The bus station and parking lot, these two eyesores of our urban landscape, will give way in September 2013 to a magnificent green promenade, offered to pedestrians.”
The “Coulée Verte” is a comprehensive project aimed at developing an urban park between the Théâtre National de Nice and the sea, on the sites of the hanging gardens housing the current bus station and parking lot (which will be demolished and relocated), Leclerc Square, Masséna Space, and the Jardin Albert Ier.
The development project covers an area of 12 hectares that includes:
- The site of the current bus station (including the hanging gardens) which will be demolished in 2011, the site of the current parking lot (including the hanging gardens) which will be demolished in 2012-2013, Leclerc Square,
Masséna Space and Jacques Médecin Forum, Jardin Albert Ier - The major landscaping orientations: a green lung, in the heart of the city, a link between Old Nice and the 19th-century City, a model of sustainable development, a place of conviviality and well-being, a place of life and entertainment, spaces dedicated to festive events, games, art, and culture.
The project manager has globally redesigned the sites to be redeveloped to create a “green corridor,” that is, a continuous green urban park, from the Théâtre National de Nice to the sea.
The sites will each have a defined purpose as follows:
- Jardin Albert Ier and Leclerc Square: spaces dedicated exclusively to gardens (except the Théâtre de Verdure: concert venue).

Masséna Space and Jacques Médecin Forum: major venue for the organization of all festive events.
-Sites of the current bus station and parking lot: spaces dedicated to art, culture, and games.
