OGC Nice Handball impressively defeated Issy-Paris, the second team in the championship, last night with a score of 26-19.
The victory was mandatory, and Sébastien Gardillou’s players achieved it!
Facing a confident Parisian team, the Nice players delivered a standout performance. A clear and flawless victory that allows them to approach the rest of the season with more tranquility.
Fueled by Alexandra Lacrabère’s 6 goals in the first half, the OGC girls led by a small margin at halftime (14-12).
It was after the break that the Niçoises made the difference. A 5-0 run in the first 10 minutes, and the deal was sealed. Stunned, the Issy-Paris players couldn’t recover.
Trailing by 9 goals with 5 minutes left in the match, they came close to a humiliating loss.
With this win, OGC Nice climbs to the 5th place in the standings (note: tied on points with Besançon). If they win against Nîmes on January 31st, the Niçoises would even move to 4th place in the championship alone.
With only 4 games remaining in the regular season, it would be an opportunity to take a strong step towards the playoffs.
