For this 22nd day in Division 1, OGCN hosted Brest at home. Unfortunately, the Nice women emerged defeated.
The start of the match was complicated for the Nice players, who lost significant advantages in the first half. Within just a few minutes, the Brest players had already scored three goals. Thanks to the energy of the Nice crowd, the first goal for OGCN was scored after six minutes of play. They managed to equalize in the following minutes at (4-4). A two-minute exclusion for pivot Anne-Emmanuelle Augustine unsettled the Nice team, following a minor clash with a Brest player.
This first half was dominated by Brest Bretagne, encouraged by the few Breton supporters. Eight minutes before the end of the first half, the score was (14-9) for Brest. The first half ended with an advantage for Brest with a score of (17-12).
An Inconclusive Second Half
For the second half, Nice gradually caught up and didn’t let themselves be completely dominated by the opponent. However, it wasn’t enough, and the Brest players gradually widened the score gap, taking a 10-goal lead. The red and black team gave it their all to catch up.
Under the chants of the Nice supporters, goalkeeper Nicole Wiggins thwarted the Brest attackers’ attempts towards the end of the match, pushing the Brest players into multiple fouls. Unfortunately, the solid Nice team did not manage to equalize. Brest Bretagne won the match (34-26), leaving a bitter taste for the Nice players.
