Handball (Proligue) 6th day: the match between Nice and Besançon also postponed

Latest News

The sixth matchday of the Proligue between Cavigal de Nice and Besançon has been postponed to a later date. Current national complications and Covid cases have forced the League to postpone the match to an unknown date for now.

Reasons for the postponement

Back home after a defeat in Pontault last Saturday (28-25), the Nice eagles will have to wait longer to try to secure their first win of the season. The reasons for this postponement are multiple. First, numerous Covid cases within the club from Doubs and then the announcement of lockdown pronounced by the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, on Wednesday evening.

Impact on Nice’s season

The Azurians hope that this encounter for the sixth matchday will not take place during the international break. The reason is that their 30-year-old right-winger Jurgen Rooba would miss this match for his national selection, Estonia. After a season start that saw the return of spectators in the stands, the red and blacks, along with all other Proligue clubs, will have to relearn to play without them for six weeks or more. Cavigal de Nice will travel on Friday, November 13th, to face Sélestat, the current leader of the championship. They surprisingly conceded their only defeat against Dijon this Wednesday. The same Dijonians who beat the eaglets 30 to 26 on October 15th.
